MERITS AND DEMERITS OF REMOTE WORKING

Remote working and distance learning is the new normal amidst this current fiasco of Covid. All of us are in one way or another are attempting to get accustomed to this remote learning concept. All of us are aware of the chaos that this deadly virus has caused from being a health hazard to crashing the economy, it has caused gigantic predicaments in the life of an ordinary man. Apart from all these, it has also devastated the academic performance of students irrespective of their age. The introduction of remote learning and working concept is both a BOON AND A BANE. It has Its own positive and negative attributes. If we talk about the positive side

· It has helped us sustain the prolonged connection with the academic or the professional world. In the unforeseeable times of pandemic when everything was falling apart, there was no significant break in the life of the students and working professionals. Though the immediate shift from physical classes to remote working was complex to accept at least the remote working ensured the connection to the academic world.

· Remote working has undoubtedly saved time of traveling to distant places and all the exhaustion accompanied by traveling. People traveling for hours reaching their workplace just to attend one seminar or a meeting does not make sense and is pointless. The weariness and the exhaustion also diminish the concentration of an individual lesser than what one is actually capable of.

· Now having a super strict 9 to 8 schedule inclusive of the traveling restricts an individual to engage in any extracurricular activities or personal time that all of us crave for. People can invest time in themselves, get indulged in any physical sport, can go to a gym and what not with this residual time of traveling. Now, if we shift to the negative aspects of the same

 · People have become casual with themselves as they’re no longer in the consistent habit of waking up and getting all ready for work. People attend meetings and classes being on their beds and we all know it. Students who have lost the opportunity of going to the campus don’t even wake up for their online class and they just join the meeting. So, this prevalent casualty has been observed in abundance.

· Remote working as we know has deeply impacted the mental health of people. Sitting in front of the laptop and gazing at the screen all day has caused damage to the psychic health of people due to excessive boredom and monotonous routine. Since the remote working has ensured ample amount of spare time to people which has caused them to overthink and has thereby increased the cases of anxiety and depression.

· This very concept has also degraded the performance of students because as the exams were being conducted online so they have this notion fixed inside of them.
